Root beer
I have never really been a big fan of Root beer I am more of a Sprite girl. I will drink root beer with pizza and of course root beer floats but that's about it. I have recently found out some weird information that has got me drinking root beer lately, for medicinal reasons. Weird! As many of you know we moved recently and with the stress of everything my milk supply for Austin suffered greatly. I wasn't willing to give up nursing yet because he was only 5 months so I called the doctor to see what I could do. When I called and got to talk to the nurse who told me that she would put in a prescription for me, but that I should also drink some root beer because it always helped her with her milk supply. Well I thought that was weird but I was willing to do anything. So I got the prescription and the root beer and my supply quickly came back. Well after the root beer was gone I didn't think anything of it I just credited my milk to the prescription and carried on. Then I noticed the other day that (although I am still on my prescription) I wasn't as full in the mornings as I use to be. So I thought - what the heck, I'll go get some more root beer and see if I can tell a difference. OH MY! I'm telling you! If you ever are low on supply DRINK ROOT BEER. I drink at least 1 a day, the first day I drank 2 just to jump start it, I am now on day 3. After the first day I noticed I was fuller, the second day a little more. This morning I woke up at 4:30 because i was so full I couldn't move! I had to go pump! So, I don't know what the deal is, if it works for everyone or why it works (the nurse said she thought it had something to do with the yeast in the root beer) but if you are nursing, have ever thought about nursing or are planning in the future to nurse just remember that Root beer is the way to go!

My friend did that and then she had to consciously stay away from rootbeer because she was squirting all over the place. I thought she was crazy but I guess my boobs just don't work no matter how you slice it. Gotta say though--bottles = way easier--for me at least. Probably because I was always so stressed nursing due to the lack of boob workage.
ha! That is so funny. I never would have thought that Root Beer would have done the trick. Not that I had that problem, but I must say that I agree with Erin, bottles are it for me. :D Anyway, congrats on the milk supply and I'll make sure to pass the info along to any in need moms LOL. ttyl, L ps we still need to talk about the potty thing (ky)
Wow, I never would've guessed that root beer would do such a thing. You should submit that to a parenting magazine, I bet a lot of moms would be interested to know that.
Root Beer! Are you Kidding me?? I LIVE on that stuff - at least I did when I had lots of kids - it was my treat. Maybe thats why I would wake up soaked from my neck to my knees the first four months I was nursing! Why didn't you speak up 30 years ago kit!!
