Holy Water Batman!

Saturday morning, I laid there at 6:50 thinking that it would be a good day. Two minutes after I woke up I hear Austin start to coo to let me know that he is ready to eat. So I go get him and we all sit in bed for the next hour playing and reading the Saturday paper. Quickly after I put Austin down for his first nap my wonderful plans for the day were smashed. I had planned on going into Oxnard (15 min away) because I needed to get a prescription filled at Sam's Club and then I wanted to go to the books store and just be out with our little family for the day (especially since we did NOTHING for our anniversary the day before). I had talk to Devon the night before about needing to go into Oxnard in the morning, but it somehow slipped his mind as he got up and got dressed for work. Now, normally this wouldn't be that bad but 3 things #1. I was told that he would never have to work on Saturdays and here it is our 2nd Saturday and he's getting ready for work, #2. I had already told him of our plans to go into Oxnard on Saturday and nothing of work was ever mentioned (not to mention that I was suppose to go in the morning because I needed my prescription that he was suppose to pick up the day before and didn't, I needed to be at Sam's as soon as I could) #3. Right now, for the first time in our marriage, we only have one car. So if he does go into work I can't go into Oxnard, even without him. Not to mention that we were suppose to be celebrating our anniversary, but whatever. So he goes to work and I sit at home, grumpy, but decide to get other things done while he was gone. So I make sure I'm ready and the diaper bag is ready for when he comes home, do the dishes then decided to throw in a load of laundry. So I get together a load of bleach and start the wash. A little while later Austin wakes up early from his nap so we sit and play on the couch. Soon after Devon comes home, he opens the door and looks at Austin and I on the couch then starts FREAKING OUT. WATER EVERY WHERE WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON!!! HE RUNS OVER TO THE WASHER AND LITERALLY JUMPS ON TOP OF THEM! HE IS YELLING AT ME TO GET A FLASH LIGHT as I run down the hall to go get one I step in about 2 INCHES OF WATER! Come to find out the drain pipe on our washer detached from the drain, so instead of the soapy bleach filled water draining into the pipes, it drained into our nice new apartment carpet. Yeah for us. So what to do. Devon runs out of the house, I soon find out he is running down the street to Target to get a wet/dry shop vac. As he is gone I am trying uselessly to soak up water, filling this little tub I have doing no good, but find that it's better than sitting there staring at the water. He quickly gets back and as soon as he steps in the door our phone rang. It was the manager. Apparently the water had leaked all the way down to the first floor (we're on the third). Drama, drama, drama. They were going to send there maintenance crews to help. He gets off the phone and starts to vacuum. Well for some reason the vacuum sends Austin off the deep end. He starts screaming and there is nothing we can do to calm him down. It really wasn't that loud. I don't know why he freaked. So I ended up having to leave. I took him and went out side where he couldn't hear it and after a couple of minutes he calmed down. Well, by the time the maintenance guys got there all the water had been cleaned but the carpet was soaked, so they sent the "carpet guy" up he thought it was kind of funny for some reason and he just took a knife, cut the carpet, pulled out the soaking wet padding underneath and put on of those heavy duty carpet fans (like when you get your carpet cleaned) underneath the carpet. He told us to run it until it was dry and that he would be back on Monday to fix the carpet. We ended up running the fan the rest of the day and that night. Sunday morning everything was dry and Monday he came in and put in new padding and glued the carpet back together. So needless to say our Saturday, while full of adventure, was pretty much shot. After the carpet guy got there on Saturday I had calmed Austin down, fed him, and put him down for a nap and then I left Devon with Austin and I ran into Oxnard by myself. It was wonderful! I ran to Sam's Club got my prescription then picked up a few other things we needed. On the way home I stopped in at the Factory Outlets in Camarillo because I had heard that they were huge and I wanted to see what was there. So I stopped and went and looked around for a little while. It was nice to have no baby for a little bit but as usually happens as soon as I pulled in and got out of the car Devon called and said the Austin was awake. So I smiled told him to play and have fun with him, and I'd be home when I got there. I looked around for about 1/2 an hour then felt bad and went home (even though there was a bottle in the fridge and I could have stayed). What a crazy day!

Whoa! Been there, done that...but our washer broke. Don't you just love those days where it seems every corner you turn, life just yells, "SURPRISE!" Hope today is better.

Kit, I'm so glad it wasn't me. That is one thing that we've never really had a problem with (knock on wood), but I would HATE it if it ever happened to me. I could only imagine how mad a certain someone would get. Although, it wouldn't be as mad as dad would get. So I'm sure I'd live. LOL ttyl, L

Those darn washing machines. Gotta love the crazy life. I love the picture of Austin; Megan and I think he's adorable. She says she can't wait to play with him this summer. Post more pictures when you get a chance.
