Mother's Day
Oh what a great day. This year I wasn't really looking forward to Mother's Day, although it was going to be my first Mother's Day as a mother. Devon had his last of 3 motorcycle classes on Sunday from 6am-12pm, which meant he wasn't going to make it to church at all (but he didn't have a choice) and I was asked to sub. in primary for the CTR 5's. So I was going to have Austin and seven 4-5 years old. So it was just going to be other Sunday, maybe even a little harder. But when we got up at 5:30 Devon gave me a cute card "from" Austin and then surprised me with a gift certificate for a manicure and a pedicure and some caramels(yum). I was so surprised. I think that this is the first time in our marriage (3 years) that he surprised me with a gift. I didn't tell him what I wanted (although I was trying to be helpful and drop hints, even though it's never helped before) and he did it all on his own. He even took Austin with him when he went to go shopping for Mother's Day. I had a whole hour at home by myself. That's a first since we've had the baby! It was really nice. So, back to actual Mother's Day. We got up and Devon gave me the gifts before he left. Then I studied the rest of my lesson and then got Austin up and we got ready to go to church, but then I realized that Devon had the car and we didn't have a way to get to church. Grrrr. So I called our friend Matt and Meg, and they came to pick us up. I had also asked Meg to help me with the CTR's the night before. Sacrament was okay, the speakers...well for Mother's Day it was kind of sad, but the primary musical number was really good. Our class went really well for the most part. There ended up being 10 kids instead of 7, Austin slept most of the time in Sharing time, and then part of class. He woke up like 11:20. Meg entertained him in class for a little while but then he started to get fussy so she took him out. That turned out to be a bad idea. He absolutely FREAKED. She tried to calm him down and took him outside but to no avail. She finally brought him back in and he was hysterical. So I took him and calmed him down and class finished so we let the kids out. Well then, as I was trying to pack up everything, I sat Austin in a chair so I could have my hands free but then there were kids running and screaming in the hall so I opened the door to remind them that we were in church, then I turned around and Austin was on the ground! Crap! so I shut the door and run over there. He kind of started crying but never really did, it was weird. He's a tough kid. He had a red bump on his head but I think he was okay. (it was a bid metal chair not a kid chair that he was sitting on) I felt bad though. He was having a rough day. When we got home Devon was already home and we put Austin down for a nap and the we took a nap. When we got up Devon took Austin and played with him all afternoon. I read, and called my mom and just relaxed. It was so nice. Then Devon made us dinner and it was really good. After dinner he did the dishes while I fed Austin and put him to bed. It was really nice. It was a great day, I was pleasantly surprised. Good work Devon!
