Job interview

So for the last couple of weeks I have been looking for a part time job. I just want something a few hours a week that I can go to once Devon gets home. We really want to start to save for a house, and I really want to get out of the house for a few hours. So finally after looking at a million jobs that wouldn't work I finally put in an application, and got an interview to be a tutor for StudySmart. It's a one on one tutoring where we go to their homes and tutor them so my schedule would be whatever me and the student decided on. Wonderful, right? Well that's what I thought, until I got to the interview today (which was over an hour away through the middle of LA - not fun- and had to leave Austin with a sitter) and not only did I have to teach a 3-5 min. lesson, but then when I thought the interview (which I thought went fairly well) was coming to an end, she handed me this 2 page Algebra 2 test! She told me to go over to the corner and fill out as much of it as I could!!! Okay so I loved Algebra 2, and I have tutored it before, but it's been like 5 years. I just sat there and looked at the log rhythms like they were a foreign language - because pretty much they were. It had factoring and graphing and f(x) and all this stuff. My mind was SWIMMING! I did the best I could without a calculator, without review, or anything but it wasn't that great. So, as much as this jobs sounds like it would be great, if that test has much to do with it then I am not holding my breath. It just kind of made me frustrated. They could have told us that we might be asked some questions so that we would review. I mean really, it's not like I am going to walk into a students home, knowing that they are studying algebra, knowing that it's been a while for me, and not put myself through a refresher course first. Oh well, it's over now and I'll just have to wait and see.

California

So, everyone is talking about getting ready to go to California and I am starting to get really excited. I think that it will turn out to be either one of the nicest time we've had in a long time...or a complete disaster. I don't think their will be any middle ground. There will be so many of us in such a small house, and we have so many things to do. I really think that it will turn out great! I am already praying for good weather when we go to Santa Cruz. Last summer when we went with Laura and her kids the first day was AMAZING! The second day, not so great, so I am hoping with all I have to hope with, that it is like the first day. I am really excited to see everyone again. I haven't seen my brothers kids since we went to Canada I think 2 years ago. What I am excited most about is the fact that I think this is the first time we are all getting together "just because". I know that Christopher is leaving to go back east and that is the main reason we are getting together but we aren't getting together because we have a wedding or because we have something we HAVE to do. We are getting together just to play and have fun. I am so excited (just in case I haven't said that enough yet). I am just sorry that my husband won't be able to join us. He enjoys my family and really wishes he could be there. I think that he would have a lot of fun, but he'll be able to go next year to the Richins family reunion so that will have to do. Well, I've got to go put Austin down for a nap so that will have to be all for now.

Devon's new motorcycle!!!!
Oh, so cute!

Father's Day

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Father's Day. Things were great here. Nothing too special but it was nice and peaceful. We had a good dinner of Pesto stuffed chicken breasts covered in Alfredo and an even better dessert of Chocolate raspberry tort. Let me tell you it was divine (if I do say so myself). I had never made either thing before but they both turned out WONDERFUL. I quite enjoy cooking but I LOVE baking. Who am I kidding, I just love FOOD!!! More importantly I love making food that makes people happy. Devon and I tend to eat meals that are not typical. We eat a lot of weird pastas and spinach and funny (yummy) cheeses. Sometimes it's hard for me to have the missionaries over because I'm not sure what to make, I have lots of recipes but I'm always afraid that they are more of an acquired taste then actually enjoyable for everyone. Anyway, I have veered so far from Father's Day...oh yes. Devon enjoyed church and then we had a quiet night of playing games. He even beat me at Skip Bo which has only happened like two other times in our whole marriage. That night we both got to talk to our Fathers and wish them a Happy Father's Day. It was a good day. Hope yours was just as good!

Ashley

So my little sister who is 15.5 (Ashley) finished school on Friday and drove with me back to my place on Saturday and then stayed with us for a week. It was so nice having her here. We get along really well. It didn't matter if we were watching movies, talking, doing nails or just sitting there staring at each other. We were just totally content being with each other. I really had a lot of fun with her and hope that she enjoyed it as much as I did. We had some fun experiences. On Saturday on the way home we stopped to get gas and grab a bite to eat and we saw Jennifer Love Hewitt in the bathroom. It was cool. The on Monday we went grocery shopping (I'm sure a whole lot of fun for her) Tuesday we just hung out and watched movies. Austin was so cranky I didn't want to take him anywhere. We did go swimming and it was a lot of fun. Wednesday we went to Sam's club and then had the missionaries over for dinner. Thursday was our crazy day and we went down to Hollywood Blvd. and then to the LA temple. It was fun and disastrous all at the same time. We ended up getting lost, making probably 20 U turns and being in the car most of the day but it was still fun. Friday we went to the Outlet malls and then went swimming again and Saturday we had to take her to the airport. It was her first time flying and she was really nervous but all went well. We had tons of fun and I will post some pictures later.

Finally

So 3 day ago Austin's 3rd tooth finally broke through! It probably took about a month and the last 4 days before it came in got really bad. (just ask Ashely he really was cranky) But as soon as it came through it was like a totally different baby. I am so glad it's broken but I am totally dreading the rest of his teeth, 3 down a mouth full to go. Well, at least now I know what to expect! Well, at least a little more. I hope that they aren't all this bad. I might just go crazy before he has all his teeth.

Sorry

So I know that I haven't blogged in a while and I am sorry. I just can't get on and do a quick blog, it seems like every time I get on 45 min. fly by and I end up wondering where the time has gone. So lately (because I have been gone and then I had Ashely staying with us) I have not had 45 min to sit and write, but I will try to get better and just jotting down a few updates when I can. I love when others blog daily so I really will try to be better at updating it. Thank to everyone who hasn't given up on me and still checks it out.
